Just 11 years old and already recognizing that power? It's the kind of thing that sends shivers down my spine. I'm reminded of memoirs of other pain, James Frey's book -- though I HATED that it was made up and not really his own experience, "Smashed" and even this one, "Alive!" by Eileen DeClemente -- <a href="http://http://www.eileenisalive.com" rel="nofollow"> Eileen is Alive</a>. It's a harrowing, but ultimately uplifting story of a family that stays together in spite of the author's drug and alcohol issues. She doesn't sugarcoat what happened, and she details her family's pain and suffering. It's very powerful. I'm going to look for "Loose Girl." It sounds very powerful, as well.
